As a person who will probably live on this planet for a few more years, the preservation of the environment is very important to me. For this reason, I decided to do a sustainable climate project in the “Arduino & Processing” course, which deals with environmentally friendly vegetable cultivation.
the idea
Today’s agriculture brings with it two environmentally damaging problems: the excessive consumption of groundwater and the enormous amount of space required.
Both problems can be drastically reduced by hydroponics. With water savings of up to 90% and the use of vertical beds, this system offers good prospects for a more environmentally conscious agricultural sector in the future.
In hydroponics, plants are only supplied with water and nutrients. In this case, the Arduino regulates the nutrient solution and controls various pumps and lamps.
at the workshop
The basic structure was built in the workshop over the last few days. With a lot of patience, strength and creativity, a completely adjustable hydroponic system was created.
The project is currently in the programming phase. The sensors have to be calibrated and connected to each other in complex functional chains.
