Camp Boho is located in the middle of Portugal, not far from the small town of Castelo Branco. There, where there is no running water or electricity, the optimistic founder Helios has settled down. With the help of many friends and helpers, the dry patch of forest is now being transformed bit by bit into a small self-sufficient village. “Offgrid” is the name given to this way of life far away from civilization. But what is life actually like there?
the production
Together with director Leon Jürgens, I traveled to Portugal in June to visit Camp Boho. In addition to a documentary film, the footage produced was also used to create an exciting series of images (see below). The film is still in post-production and is expected to be released in early 2024.
filming in the woods
I accompanied the human and animal inhabitants of Boho with my camera for over a week. The absence of urban electricity and water sources was a real challenge, accompanied by heat waves and broken refrigerators. Using a drone and camera, I was able to capture the unique spirit of the place. A truly unforgettable adventure.
